The Wildfire Ravel 400 Inset Stove combines the traditional appearance of a freestanding log burner with the neat proportions and straightforward installation of an inset gas fire. Its lightweight aluminium stove-style fascia fits neatly into a fireplace opening, creating the character of a stove without requiring the larger chamber normally associated with a freestanding appliance.

Why the Ravel 400 Inset Stove Works So Well

One of the biggest advantages of the Ravel 400 is its ability to create a convincing wood-burning stove appearance within a conventional fireplace. This makes it particularly useful when you want the visual impact of a stove but space inside the fireplace chamber is limited.

Behind the stove-style front is Wildfire’s Ravel 400 HE glass-fronted gas fire, featuring a realistic log-effect fuel bed and under-log burner system. The burner has been designed to retain an attractive flame picture even when the appliance is turned down.

The Natural Gas version offers up to 3.5kW heat output, with an efficiency of approximately 81%, providing useful supplementary heat alongside the visual appeal of a traditional stove.

Ideal for Standard Fireplace Openings

A major benefit of the Ravel 400 concept is its compatibility with traditional UK fireplace proportions. The underlying Ravel HE appliance is designed around the familiar 16″ × 22″ fireplace format, and Wildfire specifies a fireplace opening of approximately:

405–450mm wide × 555–570mm high.

This makes the Ravel 400 particularly useful when renovating an existing fireplace, as many traditional fireplace surrounds and back panels were manufactured around this standard opening size.

If the existing opening is larger, the manufacturer’s instructions state that a suitable non-combustible surround can be used to reduce the opening to the required dimensions.
