Description
The beauty of a traditional fire. The freedom of bioethanol.
The Alchemy FB18 brings a real living flame to a traditional fire basket without the need for a chimney or flue. Designed specifically for freestanding baskets, it combines the character of an open fire with the convenience of modern, remotely controlled bioethanol technology.
Choose the contemporary ribbon-flame appearance with its black steel top plate exposed, or add the removable log plate with hand-painted ceramic logs for the convincing appearance of a traditional log fire. The FB18 is compatible with the Alchemy FB18 basket and Chesneys’ 18-inch Soho fire basket.
Performance & Running
The current FB18 MK4 offers 2kW–3.5kW heat output, a 3.2-litre fuel tank and fuel consumption of approximately 0.35 litres per hour on low and 0.5 litres per hour on high. Chesneys states that its patented combustion technology can provide a burn time of up to 10 hours without refuelling.
Why choose the Alchemy FB18?
No chimney or flue is required, making it particularly useful for creating a real-flame fireplace where a conventional wood or gas fire isn’t practical. It features automatic ignition and remote control, while the compact burner measures just 447mm wide × 239mm high × 305mm deep.
The FB18 has a specified minimum room volume of 25m³. As bioethanol combustion uses oxygen and produces carbon dioxide and water vapour, suitable room ventilation is still required and the manufacturer’s installation requirements must be followed.
Real flame. No chimney. Traditional character with modern convenience.
