Description

The Onyx Mirage 40i is a premium 16-inch inset electric fire designed to recreate the depth, movement and atmosphere of a real wood-burning fire. Featuring Onyx’s patented Mirage Virtual Flame System, the fire uses captured visuals of a real wood fire alongside a carefully matched, hand-painted log-effect fuel bed to produce an exceptionally realistic flame picture.

Realistic Mirage Flame Technology

The Mirage Virtual Flame System brings the fire to life with flames that appear to move naturally across the logs. Choose from five flame presets, ranging from a lively high burn through to a subtle ember glow, as well as the contemporary Aurora setting.

The open-fronted fuel bed features tactile hand-painted logs, internal log lighting, glass chippings and vermiculite to enhance the depth and realism of the display. There are also 16 log and ember-bed lighting options, with adjustable brightness and pulsing speeds to personalise the appearance.

Frame & Front Options

The Mirage 40i offers three distinctive cast-iron decorative front designs:

Arts – an elegant design that works particularly well with classic and traditional fireplaces.

Wave – a softer, flowing design that gives the fire a stylish contemporary appearance.

Chartwell – a more detailed decorative option, ideal for adding character to a traditional fireplace.

Each design is available in a choice of Black, Polished Chrome-effect, Highlight Polished or Polished Brass-effect, giving you plenty of flexibility to coordinate the fire with your fireplace surround and interior décor.

2kW Programmable Heating

The Mirage 40i provides up to 2kW of thermostatically controlled heat, with the ability to set your preferred room temperature up to 28°C. The flame display can also be operated independently of the heater, allowing you to enjoy the ambience throughout the year.

A fan-only mode provides gentle air circulation without heat, while energy-saving features include open-window detection and automatic Deep Sleep mode.

Remote & App Control

Control the Mirage using the supplied remote handset or the Onyx MyFlame app. The app provides access to flame and lighting customisation, temperature settings and daily or weekly heating schedules, making it easy to tailor both the appearance and warmth of the fire.

Ideal for a Standard Fireplace Opening

Designed specifically for a traditional 16-inch fireplace opening, the Mirage 40i requires only around 75mm recess depth, making it an excellent option for replacing an older gas or electric fire without requiring a deep fireplace chamber.

No chimney or flue is required – only a suitable electrical supply – making the Mirage a flexible choice for both existing fireplaces and new installations.
