Chesney Fireplaces – The Alderney

Description

The Chesneys Alderney is an elegant fireplace surround inspired by the late-17th-century bolection profile associated with Sir Christopher Wren and Italian architecture. Its substantial moulding and corniced shelf give the Alderney a timeless architectural presence, making it equally suited to period properties and sophisticated contemporary interiors.

Size & Dimensions

The standard Alderney measures 1275mm (50¼”) wide x 1206mm (47½”) high, with a 914mm (36″) wide x 914mm (36″) high opening. The mantel shelf measures 1487mm (58⅝”) long x 218mm (8⅝”) deep, with a jamb depth and footblock height of 152mm (6″). Chesneys also states that its fireplace designs can be produced in bespoke sizes on request, making the Alderney adaptable to individual fireplace openings and room proportions.

Material Options

The Alderney can be commissioned in an exceptional selection of natural stones and marbles, including Ivory Travertine, Silver Travertine, Dark Emperador, Anatolian Grey, Bianco Carrara, Volakas, Arabescato, Azul Valverde, Petit Granit, Pele Tigre, Nero Marquina, Lilac, Calacatta Vagli, Calacatta Viola, Calacatta Oro and Calacatta Bluette. As these are natural materials, every fireplace has its own individual colouring, veining and character, and availability of rarer marbles can vary.

From the understated warmth of travertine to the dramatic veining of Arabescato or Calacatta marble, the choice of material can completely transform the character of the Alderney, creating either a subtle classic fireplace or a bold statement centrepiece.
